Why Do I Need Emergency Treatment?

The Importance Of Prompt Care

Immediate emergency treatment has lots of benefits. First, it gets you out of pain. A serious dental emergency can cause distracting and excruciating pain that interferes with your daily routine. Emergency treatment also prevents further complications, which can save you more time and money. So don’t wait. If you think your condition is an emergency, call Bespoke Dentistry today at (619) 614-6866 for same-day care in San Diego.

What Qualifies As An Emergency?

Any oral health problem that’s causing you pain, discomfort, or bleeding demands emergency care. That means lots of things qualify. Dental trauma like a cracked or broken tooth is an emergency, but so are things like toothaches, lost fillings, or deep cuts to your gums. If you think your condition qualifies as an emergency, you’re probably right. So give us a call at (619) 614-6866 to talk to our dental team and schedule your consultation right away.

Recover Tooth Or Dental Work

If you’ve lost a tooth, recover it and rinse it with warm water. Grab it by the top (crown) not the bottom (root) to avoid damaging it. Store it in cold milk, and come to our office immediately. Knocked-out teeth must be replaced within 1-2 hours. If you’ve lost a piece of dental work like a crown, rinse it off and put it into a plastic bag, and bring it in with you to your appointment.

Manage Pain, Discomfort, And Bleeding

You can take medicine like acetaminophen (Tylenol) to help with pain. Icing the cheek near the affected area at 15-minute intervals can help with discomfort and swelling. If you’re bleeding, use gauze, a clean paper towel, or a cotton ball to soak up blood.

Come Into Bespoke Dentistry ASAP

Common Emergency Procedures

Root Canal Therapy
Root canals may be done on infected teeth, or if your tooth is deeply cracked or broken. A root canal removes infected pulp, eliminates your pain, and preserves your tooth.
Dental Fillings
If you’ve lost a filling, Dr. Stempfle will typically replace it. Depending on your case, though, she may also recommend replacing failed fillings with dental crowns.
Dental Crowns
Crowns are used to restore large cavities, to protect teeth after root canal therapy, and to repair damaged or broken teeth. We offer CEREC crowns at our office, so you may be able to get your crown in just a single 1-2 hour appointment.
Tooth Splinting
If you have a loose or knocked-out tooth, Dr. Stempfle will replace it in the proper position, then attach it to nearby healthy teeth. This splint keeps the tooth from moving, and allows it to heal and re-attach to your mouth.
Tooth Extractions
Tooth extractions are always our last resort. When possible, saving your tooth is the simpler and more affordable option. However, in some cases, tooth extractions are necessary to prevent serious complications and get you out of pain.
