Keeping Your Mouth Healthy

The Importance of Preventive Care

Preventive dentistry is the best way to protect your oral health, eliminate common problems like gum disease and teeth cleanings, and save time and money in San Diego. With regular 3 to 6 month appointments and oral exams, you’ll keep your mouth healthy and get peace of mind. Contact us now to schedule your next teeth cleaning, and take control of your oral health.

Warm Water Teeth Cleanings & Oral Exams

Teeth cleanings with our unique warm water system and oral exams are at the heart of preventive dentistry. Your routine 3 to 6 month visits allow Dr. Leah Stempfle to track your oral health, catch problems like cavities early, and recommend the appropriate treatment plan for improving your dental health. During your appointment, a hygienist will clean with warm water, buff, and floss your teeth, then Dr. Stempfle will examine your teeth to look for signs of common oral health issues. Most patients also get x-rays once per year. Cleanings and oral exams are fast, affordable, and the best way to keep your mouth healthy in San Diego.

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride treatments can strengthen your teeth or even reverse the first stage of tooth decay. They're usually done along with a teeth cleaning or oral exam. Dr. Stempfle will simply paint a fluoride-rich solution onto your teeth, leave it in place for a few minutes, then rinse it away with our unique warm water system. Fluoride attracts minerals that help rebuild and strengthen your teeth, which reduces your risk of cavities.

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are an option for any cavity-prone patient. They consist of a thin layer of transparent resin, which is applied to your rear teeth in a liquid form. Dr. Stempfle will harden this liquid with a special UV light. This forms a strong protective barrier. This barrier prevents food particles, acid, and bacteria from contacting your teeth. This, in turn, virtually eliminates the risk of cavities in your treated teeth.

Deep Cleaning
(Scaling & Root Planing)

We specialize in periodontal (gum) care in San Diego. If you have gum disease, we will typically recommend deep cleaning (also called “scaling & root planing”) as the first step for treatment. In this procedure, Dr. Stempfle will clean deeply between your teeth and gums to eliminate bacteria, plaque, and tartar. Treatment usually takes 2 appointments over a period of 2-3 weeks, since one-half of your mouth is cleaned at each appointment. Along with good at-home oral hygiene, deep cleaning can be enough to halt or reverse the progression of your gum disease.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Oral cancer often goes unnoticed by general physicians until it has spread to the rest of your body. That’s why Dr. Stempfle offers oral cancer screenings as part of every six-month visit at Bespoke Dentistry. She will look for bumps, lesions, and other potential signs of oral cancer. Oral cancer is rare, but if she finds something that looks concerning, Dr. Stempfle and our team will make sure you get the help you need.

CEREC Same-Day Crowns
We also offer CEREC same-day crowns. CEREC is a technology that allows Dr. Stempfle to design and create your dental crown in just a single 1-2 hour appointment. Lab-made crowns usually take at least 2 appointments over a few weeks, so CEREC is great if you have a busy schedule. Contact us now to see if you can get a crown in a day.

Benefits of a crown include:
- Restored strength and stability
- Natural looking color and shape
- Lasting results with healthy materials
- Ability to brush and floss comfortably
Composite Dental Fillings
We exclusively offer composite dental fillings at Bespoke Dentistry. These are fillings made of a combination of crushed glass and dental resin. They're tooth-colored, so they won’t discolor your teeth or your smile. Composite fillings are also free of heavy metals like mercury, making them a safer way to treat cavities in San Diego.
Root Canal Therapy
If you have an infected tooth, root canal therapy is the best way to save and restore your smile and prevent further complications. If an infected tooth is not treated by a root canal, the infection can persist to cause even greater overall health concerns.

In a root canal, Dr. Stempfle will open up the tooth, remove decayed and infected material from the inside, then fill it up and seal the tooth. A root canal eliminates toothaches caused by tooth infections, preserves your tooth, and allows you to get back to your day-to-day routine without worrying about your oral health.
Lab-Made Dental Crown
If cracked, chipped, or missing teeth are keeping you from smiling wide or stopping you from eating or chewing, we are here for you. Dental crowns are designed to cover up your existing tooth completely, protecting it and replacing the outer surface. Our lab-made crowns are built by highly-skilled technicians, and are customized to look and feel just like a natural tooth. We may recommend a dental crown if you have a large cavity, after a root canal, or to repair a cracked or damaged tooth.
Dental Bridges
We will assess if a bridge is the best treatment for you. The benefits of a bridge include:- Restoring bite function- Eliminating risk of other teeth shifting with a fixed restoration- Helping patients regain confidence in their smiles
